Painted monasterys

The monasteries were built during the 15th-16th centuries at a time marked by the personalities of the Moldavian prince Stephen the Great (1457-1504), and of his son, Petru Rares (1530-1538; 1541-1546). Stephen the Great was an illustrious army commander, a defender of christendom and a prolific promoter of culture.

Iasi

It would be wrong to think that the cradle of Romanian culture is just Bucharest. The generous ideas of the revolutionary Europe, that is, the germ of the continent's modernity arrived in the 19th century Moldavia. Iasi was one of the major centers of Romanian spirituality, having as a symbol and main expression frame the Palace of Culture , a building which is now part of the national heritage. Today, it is the place where administration and culture intermingle harmoniously, in the shadow of Dealul Copoului.
