1 Curtea de Arges Monastery

2 Cozia Monastery
Is one of the most valuable monuments of the 14-th century architecture, starting point for the Byzantine style in Wallachia. The main church was erected in 1368-1388 by Mircea the Elder. The monastery has a rich museum of religious art, old printings, jewels, etc.
3 Monastery of Horezu
The Monastery of Horezu was founded in 1690 by Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu in the town of Horezu, Wallachia, Romania. It is considered to be a masterpiece of "Brâncovean" style, known for its architectural purity and balance, the richness of its sculpted detail, its treatment of religious compositions, its votive portraits, and its painted decorative works.The monastery has been inscribed by UNESCO on its list of World Heritage Sites.
4 Black Curch Brasov
In the theart of our country, in an environment of a rare beauty Brasov - capital of the region with the same name - regards a history of nearly 800 years; nowadays it is trobbing of modern life. At the foot of the Carpathians on the old highways of migrations between the Lower Danube and the Carpathian basin her site decided her roll as a centre of industry, commerce and culture not only for Transylvania but also for Moldovia and Valahia.
5 Alba Iulia Cathedral
Grandiose building, the Reunification Cathedral was built between 1921-1923, following the project drawn by the architect D.G. Stefanescu, leaded by the engineer T. Eremia. The Great Romanian monarchs were crowned here on the 15th of October 1922. The establishment is shaped as a Greek cross, with an open porch. One can get inside trough a right-angled narthex with three round headed vault units, a narrow have and a sanctuary. Constantin Petrescu painted the fresco in traditional iconography style.
6 Moldovita Monastery
Around 1410, Alexander the Kind founded a fortified stone church for lookout and watching on the site of a wooden church. The construction was seriously damaged by a landslide at the end of the 15th century, so that the ruling prince Petru Rares erected the monastery on safer ground, on the valley of the Moldovita River in 1532.
7 Voronet Monastery
Stephen the Great and the Holy founded this monastery as a holy place of worship in return for the wise advice given to him by the hermit Daniil of Voronetz in times of trouble. The building was finished in three months and three weeks of the year 1488. Since its foundation, the monastery was blessed with monks of extremely high spiritual calibre. The monastery was suppressed in 1785, when Bukovina was annexed to the Hapsburg Empire. On July 1st, 1991, the monastic life was resumed, this time by a community of nuns under the abbacy of Mother Superior Irina Pantescu. The young community strives to combine harmoniously praying and worshipping with housekeeping, field work, painting and guiding visitors.
8 Putna Monastery
The Putna Monastery is the first foundation of Stephen the Great and the Holy and a destined resting-place. It was erected (on the very spot where the arrow shot from the voivode's bow fell, as the legend has it) between 1466-1469. The whole complex was finished in 1481. It underwent numerous restoration works in time, the last ones in 1968-1970.
9 The Agapia Monastery
The Agapia Monastery - one of the greatest convents in Romania - is situated at 12 kilometres southwest of Târgu-Neamt and at 43 kilometres of Piatra-Neamt, being under the jurisdiction of the Archbishopric of Iasi. In the Neamt area some others monasteries, such as Neamt, Secu, Sihastria, Sihla, Varatec, Horaita, Bistrita or Durau, can be visited. The high density of monasteries proves the deep piety of Romanian people.
10 Baia Mare Monastery
The church "The Birth Madonna", built in 1630 in Chechis village, was given to the Greek-catholic Episcopy of Baia Mare in 1939. Its location is on the "Flowers' Hill", being part of the Ethnographic Museum built here in 1975. As the inscription from the pronaos frame says, the craftsman was called Marti. At an unknown date, the southern door was removed to the west and a verandah was also added to it. In 1991, the church was restored and it regained the previous shape of the tower and helmet, as they represent a reference point of high architectural and historical value.
